What I Do In the “Quiet” Season.

Oh my goodness, I can’t believe it is Christmas in just 4 days!

Seriously I feel like I looked down in May and then looked up and the summer was over and the Christmas adverts had started! What the …..?

I know it’s a cliche but this year has gone faster than ever, I’m convinced of it!

So how are you feeling about Christmas? Excited or over it already?!

Venue Stylist Issues!

This time of year I tend to take on a bit less styling work to enjoy some downtime with my family; read “run around like a headless chicken buying and wrapping presents, try to remember to move the bloomin’ elf on the shelf every night and stocking up on enough food to feed the whole street”. (I’ve failed on the elf on the shelf by the way).

All this whilst trying to contain my 2 young children who have eaten far too many selection boxes already, and are bouncing off the walls with excitement, driving me bonkers!

Plus being a venue stylist I’m always under pressure to have the perfectly trimmed house and make it look like something from Beautiful Homes magazine.

No pressure then!

Time to Reflect

Normally at this time of year my styling work does quieten down a little and I try to use the time to reflect on what were the highs and lows of the year and look at how my business performed while I have some head space to do so.

What would I do again?

Which aspects did I enjoy?

Was there any work I took on and didn’t enjoy?

Any lessons learnt?

What am I going to do differently next year?

What was profitable? What wasn’t?

The quieter pace of the winter and end of the year feels like a great time to review the year and work on my business rather than in it.

Because you know what before too long it will be April and the crazy season will start again!

How do you feel your business did last year? What went well? What would you like to improve next year?

I’m going to try to do more live video (gulp!) and also learn to say “no” more. I’m definitely a yes person and take on too much so I’m learning to only take on the work that I want to.

Anyway, as tomorrow is my last day in the office before I unplug for a few days, I wanted to wish you all a lovely Christmas and a very happy and successful new year!

Hope you get to enjoy your family time, eat too many mince pies and sneak in a sherry or 2!

I’m really excited for the new year, it’s going to be a good one I can feel it in my bones!

P.S. I’m going to be running a FREE mastermind class on “defining your ideal client” so keep your eyes peeled if you’d like to join that one.
